*Application for Alaska EMS

**Application for Recertification

As a part of the EMT (EMT-B) and AEMT (Replacing EMT-Intermediate 85) courses EMT & Fire Training offers, you get full access to our test prep site to help you study for the NREMT exams at no extra cost.

Paramedic candidates must have passed the NREMT exam at some point to be licensed in Alaska. Paramedics are licensed as Mobile Intensive Care Paramedics through the Alaska State Medical Board.

Current Alaska EMS Levels:
EMT (EMT-B) = AK EMT-1
AEMT (EMT-I85) = AK EMT-2
Paramedic = EMT-3

Certification at the AK EMT-3 level does not equate with new national certification levels, though those with proper training (ACLS) may still be able to apply for reciprocity.

If you are applying for EMT-2 or EMT-3 you must take an Alaska Written Examination, and an Alaska Practical Examination before you can apply for Comity (Reciprocity) Certification. You must also prove that your training met or exceeded the contents of the curricula used in Alaska, and be sponsored by a Physician Medical Director.

RECERTIFICATION: Submit an application with a $25.00 fee. If you possess a certification that is not expired, or that has expired in the last 12 months, you must have 48 CME's within the last 2 years from the date of the application, a written exam with a score of 70 or higher, and a verification of skills or have successfully completed the practical skills exam.

If certification has been expired for longer than 12 months and up to 36 months, you must: Have 48 CME's within 2 years of the application date, pass the written exam with 70% or higher, successfully complete the practical exam, have completed a refresher course (in addition to CME) in the 12 months preceding the application date, and a skills verification within the last 12 months.

If you are applying for EMT-2 or EMT-3 you must be sponsored by a Physician Medical Director. We offer an online 24-hour EMT Refresher, a 36-Hour AEMT Refresher, and a 48-Hour Paramedic Refresher to help meet the needs of these demands.

Re-Testing the NREMT Exam: Once you pass our 24 Hour EMT Online Refresher course you will have 3 more opportunities at taking the NREMT Exam. The Course is accepted by the NREMT and covers all 24 hours of the Mandatory Core and Content required. To insure that you pass on your next attempt you can practice for the exam with our test prep site.

Re-Testing the NRAEMT Exam: Once you pass our 36 Hour AEMT Online Refresher course you will have 3 more opportunities at taking the NRAEMT Exam. The Course is accepted by the NREMT for both AEMT and I85 and covers all 36 hours of the Mandatory Core and Flexible Core Content required. To insure that you pass on your next attempt you can practice for the exam with our test prep site.

Re-Testing the NR Paramedic Exam: Once you pass our 48 Hour Paramedic Online Refresher course you will have 3 more opportunities at taking the NR Paramedic Exam. The Course is accepted by the NREMT for both and covers all 48 hours of the Mandatory Core and Flexible Core Content required. To insure that you pass on your next attempt you can practice for the exam with our test prep site.
